ETE: Equality Through Education
Oorja is a 15-year-old sophomore at Richard Montgomery High School. Besides Oorja’s passion for bettering the lives of underprivileged kids, she is eager to help her community through her role as Vice President of AAPSU. Oorja also loves traveling and has lived in three countries (India, Belgium, and the USA). She enjoys reading and spending time with her friends.
Oorja hopes ETE’s initiatives can one day be implemented in every country around the globe and have a prominent impact on low-income communities. She also hopes to continue uniting teens to join ETE’s mission to aid underprivileged students have a better future.
Gretchen is a senior at Wootton High School. She has been involved in student activism since middle school. She has done work for a number of organizations and projects helping local communities with various issues. Her biggest focuses have been LGBTQ+ student rights and equitable education.
Chelsea Zhu is a sophomore at Richard Montgomery High School. She has been involved in various advocacy and tutoring organizations. Her interests include traveling, figure skating, and drinking strawberry smoothies.
Hali is a sophomore at Richard Montgomery High School. She's passionate about bridging the gaps in education and hopes to fulfill her lifelong goal of advocating for educational equity. As ETE's Advocacy and Policy director, Hali's excited to work to expand resources throughout the world.
Kimberly (Kim) is a sophomore at Richard Montgomery High School. She is involved in student advocacy and leadership and is the VP within her class SGA. Some of her other interests include art and swimming.
Barkha is a sophomore at Richard Montgomery High School who is passionate about advocacy surrounding climate change, food security, and education. Her other interests include crocheting and hanging out with friends!
Nishikaa Poona, a sophomore at Wootton High School, is deeply passionate about advocating for and creating equality for underprivileged communities. She also enjoy pursuing interests such as dance, music, volleyball, and art.
Shailey Vadgama is a sophomore at Richard Montgomery High School. She is passionate about helping others succeed in all aspects of their life, but primarily education. As a member of ETE, she hopes to make a difference in the quality of education that students receive all over the world.
Walter Sha is a sophomore at Richard Montgomery High School. He is involved in student advocacy and is extremely interested in integrating climate and law. Besides this, his other interests include tennis!
Eric is a sophomore at Thomas S. Wootton HS. He is involved in various advocacy and academic organizations and school clubs including Model UN, HOSA, and more. He enjoys painting, playing badminton, and has played the piano for over a decade.
Hello! I’m Kevin Nguyen, a junior at John F. Kennedy High School. I’ve been working with advocacy organizations, such as MCR-SGA, and have been tutoring math since 2021! I’m looking forward to working with Equality Through Education in the coming years!

Ella is a seventh grader at Neelsville Middle School. She is involved in multiple student advocacy organizations. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, play piano competitively, and horseback riding.
